Gotta ask why? Dynamic stress during flight isn't going to crush a
cone.
If you are adding mass, epoxy with lead shot will make it a "brick."
Then foam the rest...
How much more strength is needed>

Subject: [RocketsNW] Reinforce 6" Nosecone
Hello All,
I've got a 6" Conical PR nosecone that I want to 'beefup'. My thought
is
to add a layer or two of fiberglass to the inside, from close to the tip
all the way through the shoulder. I'm not concerned about weight (gonna
add a few lbs afterwards anyway). What I do want is strength, so a good
bond to the inside is required.
I'm thinking some manner of big party balloon, inflated after the glass
is
applied will provide more then enough pressure, but I've not had luck in
finding the right one. They don't make conical balloons...
The other thought is to apply the glass, insert a small garbage bag all
the
way down and pour in a bunch of expanding foam. I'd put some manner of
cap
on the top to force to foam to apply as much pressure as it can, but
with
relief holes so it doesn't blow the whole thing.
Has anyone tried either of these, or better yet, have a better solution?
Thanks!
